It’s a stream of thoughts that breaks everything, accompanying the listener to the discover of new sounds and sensations, a container for conveying emotions and get lost between
suggestions and melodies.

THE STAR PILLOW meet BRUNO ROMANI - VIA DEL CHIASSO (TR004)

 

Star Pillow e Bruno Romani insieme per una registrazione particolarissima, che potremmo anche definire musica da camera, intima e confidenziale. Si tratta di improvvisazioni etremamente discorsive, dove pianoforte e chitarra stendono un tappeto vivissimo fatto di reiterazioni e piccole variazioni, su cui il solismo eclettico e creativo di Bruno Romani si muove con grande naturalezza. Bruno è un noto sassofonista italiano che collabora con una vasta gamma di artisti: ha iniziato la sua carriera con la cult band no-wave Detonazione, nei primi anni Ottanta, poi tante collaborazioni in ambiti soprattutto jazz (ma anche rock e perfino della musica leggera), nei quali mostra sempre una capacità peculiare di suonare e adattare le sue note nei contesti più diversi, con mente lucida e aperta. Quest'album presentato qui, ha del sorprendente, soprattutto per coloro che considerano l'improvvisazione libera qualcosa di furioso e ostico per definizione. Il disco è stato registrato nell'aprile 2013 e riporta la collaborazione di Taverna Records, la neonata etichetta di Star Pillow.

After the critical success of their latest album "Fattore Ambientale" (Taverna Records 2012) The Star Pillow make a step forward in exploring the mysterious world of sounds and impressions that is their music and they do it with the help of a special guest , Bruno Romani, on sax and flutes, a member of historic italian underground alternative scene (Detonation, Xabier Iriondo, Alice, No Guru, etc) and perfectly at home in the depths of improvisation more radical. So then in "Via del Chiasso" electronics allows for interaction among three sensitivity in listening that are launched without network paths mold free-jazz improvisation, where the instruments chasing each other with quick appearance and then engage in dialogue with each other in continuous evolution. The music is tinged with expectation, of mystery, like a story without words. The common thread is ideas, fleeting and constantly changing, used as a map of a surreal journey and charming.
Stefano Giust, a key figure in the Italian experimental and improvised music, has shown great interest in this album wanting strongly in the catalog of his label Setola di Maiale. This new production also marks the birth of "Insight Sessions", a new series of Taverna Records (label of the same Paolo Monti) dedicated to the production of more experimental and improvisational.

THE STAR PILLOW - THE BEAUTIFUL QUESTIONS (TR005)

Star Pillow è un interessante duo che si concentra in questa produzione - così come nella precedente con Bruno Romani (vedi SM2500) - nel territorio della libera improvvisazione, ma lo fanno senza troppo accennare a quelle tecniche ed anche a certi luoghi comuni che caratterizzano tanta musica improvvisata contemporanea (c'è piuttosto una qualche traccia di una estetica vicina agli australiani Necks). Qui i due musicisti improvvisano focalizzandosi sul suono e la sua 'sostenibilità', aggiungendo e togliendo materiali con disinvolta organizzazione hic et nunc. Non c'è mai fretta in questa musica! Il disco è stato registrato nell'aprile 2013 e riporta la collaborazione di Taverna Records, la neonata etichetta di Star Pillow.

Tascam is an ongoing project developed by Roberto Beani and Aldo Giannotti where improvised jam sessions are recorded trought a tascam recorder. This is an Amazing mix of field recording in Vienna and dreamy folk made with only two guitar.
